Where to Stay in Gangnam

Novotel is useful when you want a full-service hotel in this part of Gangnam rather than a compact room and a good location.

The basic rooms are roughly 26–28 m², and the hotel has the facilities people often expect from a larger property, including a pool and sauna. Some room categories can also work for three people with the correct occupancy and extra-bed conditions.

The location needs to be described properly. Despite the name, this is not a hotel directly outside Gangnam Station. Sinnonhyeon is the easier subway approach, while walking from Gangnam Station itself takes longer.

That matters if you plan every trip around Line 2. If your evenings are around Sinnonhyeon and your days are in southern Seoul, the location makes more sense.

Airport arrival is another reason to look at it. The 6703 limousine serves this hotel area, so you do not necessarily need to drag luggage through a subway transfer after a long flight.

The room is not the reason to book Dormy Inn.

Standard rooms are compact, but after a day of meetings, shopping, or walking, the communal bath and sauna change the stay. There is also a laundry area, which makes it easier to pack lighter on a longer Korea trip.

The bath operates into the next morning; the sauna pauses for part of the overnight period. Anyone booking specifically for those facilities should check the current operating hours before arrival.

The hotel is also closer to Sinnonhyeon than many travelers expect from the name. The 6703 airport bus stop near Novotel leaves only a short walk to Dormy Inn.

If you want a large room to spread out two suitcases, look elsewhere. If you know you will actually use the bath every night, the small room becomes a more reasonable compromise.

Ocloud is the practical choice in this group when Sinnonhyeon itself is useful to you.

The hotel is technically across the administrative boundary in Seocho-gu, but that distinction matters much less to a traveler than the actual location: it sits right by the Gangnam/Sinnonhyeon nightlife and dining area.

That makes it a sensible place to come back to after a late dinner without planning your evening around the last subway.

Family Twin categories add another use case, although occupancy listings have not always been consistent across booking sites. Do not count beds and assume the room accepts the same number of adults. Put the full party into the reservation first.

Ocloud is harder to justify for someone spending every day at COEX. In that case, staying in Samseong removes more travel.

Cappuccino feels different from the more conventional business hotels nearby, but the useful part is not just the design.

It has dedicated Triple and Quad rooms, and the Quad uses four bunk-style beds. For three or four friends, that can solve a sleeping problem that standard Seoul hotel rooms often do not.

There is also self-service laundry, which is more valuable on a longer trip than another decorative hotel amenity.

The hotel suits travelers who like the Yeoksam/Gangnam evening environment and do not need a large full-service property. Someone looking for a quiet luxury stay or direct COEX access has better choices elsewhere.

For a group, still book by the exact room category. A stylish photograph of a standard room is not evidence that four adults can stay there.

AC Hotel works better as a Yeoksam hotel than as a generic “Gangnam Station hotel.”

Yeoksam Station is the useful reference point, particularly for business along Teheran-ro. That can cut a surprising amount of daily walking if your meetings are nearby.

Most travelers will use it as a modern conventional hotel, but some higher room categories go further. Premier Suite options include a separate living area and full kitchen, which changes the usefulness for longer stays.

That does not mean everyone should pay for a suite. If you will leave after breakfast and return late, the kitchen may barely matter.

AC Hotel is strongest when Yeoksam is already where you need to be.

For a COEX-heavy trip, this is the hotel that removes the most friction.

Classic rooms start around 40 m², so even the basic room gives you noticeably more space than many business hotels in Seoul. The hotel also connects into the Parnas Mall/COEX area, and Samseong Station is very close.

That changes the morning of a conference. Instead of planning when to leave, watching the weather, and carrying work material on the subway, you can simply walk over.

The 6103 airport limousine also serves this area, which makes arrival with luggage easier than a rail trip with transfers.

The price only makes sense if you use the location or the hotel. If COEX is one short visit during a week of sightseeing elsewhere, paying for this convenience every night is harder to defend.

Shilla Stay is for travelers who need Samseong more than they need a five-star hotel.

Family Twin categories can accommodate three guests, with some child combinations allowing four, so it is worth checking for a family attending an event or spending time around COEX.

There is one detail easy to miss when booking: some Family Twin and standard categories are sold as no-view rooms. A family room does not automatically mean a better view or a brighter room.

If looking out over Gangnam matters to you, check the exact category rather than assuming the hotel name guarantees it.

For a conference, shopping, or short family stay around COEX, the simpler hotel facilities may be enough.

Peyto is here for travelers who look at the COEX map and think, “I mostly need a clean place to sleep nearby.”

It sits close to COEX and has practical facilities including coin laundry. That makes it particularly useful for one or two travelers who care more about location than spending the evening inside the hotel.

Do not treat the twin-room layout as flexible group accommodation. Extra-bed options are limited, so this is not where we would start for three adults.

It also fits the shopping side of Gangnam well. If COEX, department stores, and Samseong are the point of the day, staying nearby is more useful than commuting from Gangnam Station simply because that area is more famous.

Andaz is the strongest hotel on this list when the trip is actually about Apgujeong and Cheongdam.

The hotel connects directly with Apgujeong Station, and that puts luxury shopping, beauty appointments, galleries, restaurants, and the Cheongdam side of Gangnam in the right direction from the moment you leave.

Rooms start larger than many central Seoul hotels, and higher categories give substantially more space. Some configurations can also work for families, but the exact occupancy still needs to be checked at booking.

This is not the hotel we would pay for simply to say we stayed in Gangnam. If your days are at COEX, Andaz creates a commute that Grand InterContinental does not.

If your calendar is filled with Apgujeong clinics, Cheongdam reservations, and shopping, the calculation reverses.

voco makes the most sense when Sinsa and Dosan are already on your map.

Standard rooms are not unusually large, but the hotel has much bigger options for groups and longer stays. The Two Bedroom Royal Suite is over 100 m² and includes multiple beds and a full kitchen.

Most couples do not need anything close to that. The useful point is that the same property can work for a normal two-person stay or, with the correct category, a much larger family or group.

There is no hotel airport shuttle to rely on, so check the airport limousine or final taxi leg before arrival rather than assuming a premium hotel handles the transfer.

For Garosu-gil, Dosan Park, beauty appointments, and dinners around Sinsa, the location earns its place. For a COEX conference, it does not.
